According to reporting based on official accounts, units of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) stationed near Pangong Tso recorded more than one hundred sightings of luminous aerial objects between August and October 2012. The observations reportedly occurred during both daylight and darkness, with yellowish lights appearing to rise from the horizon before remaining visible for several hours. How mountain conditions distort what observers see

Many characteristics commonly attributed to Himalayan UFOs can arise naturally from the viewing environment.

Several physical effects are especially relevant:

  • Compressed depth perception. Vast mountain distances make nearby and distant objects appear deceptively close together.

Why unidentified does not mean alien
