Possible explanations and unresolved questions

Many Cairo UFO reports can be understood through the same categories used in wider UAP investigations: conventional aircraft, satellites, astronomical objects, atmospheric effects, human-made devices and observation errors. The challenge is that a witness often describes the appearance of an object, not the underlying cause.

A bright object moving in the night sky may appear to accelerate or change direction because of perspective effects, lack of reference points or the observers own movement. Objects near airports may seem unusual because aircraft lights can look very different when approaching, turning or descending. Cameras can also exaggerate mystery by creating lens flares, compression artefacts or distorted light sources.

The unresolved part of Cairos UFO record is therefore not simply whether witnesses saw something. Many probably did see real lights or objects.
