- Did multiple independent observers report the same object from different locations? Triangulation allows investigators to estimate actual altitude and distance rather than relying on subjective impressions.
When these tests can be performed, many apparently extraordinary lights prove consistent with ordinary aircraft, celestial bodies or atmospheric optics. When they cannot, the case generally remains unresolved because of insufficient evidence rather than because an extraordinary explanation has been demonstrated.

Urban and coastal light reports occupy an important place in Albania’s broader UFO record because they illustrate the difference between unidentified observations and evidence for extraordinary objects.
The Seman coastguard observation remains noteworthy due to the experience of its witnesses, yet the absence of corroborating technical data prevents a firm conclusion. Likewise, many later reports from Tirana and the Adriatic coast occurred in environments where aviation, maritime traffic, horizon effects and atmospheric optics naturally produce unfamiliar visual experiences.
Rather than diminishing these accounts, this context explains why careful documentation matters. In western Albania especially, broad sea horizons and dense transport activity mean that the strongest investigations depend not simply on sincere testimony but on precise bearings, weather records, astronomical checks and independent measurements that can distinguish an unusual appearance from an unusual object.
