A chronology of the better-documented incidents
Sharjah, 2004: vibration, beams and a probable aircraft

Across Abu Dhabi and Dubai, 2017: spacecraft debris re-entering
On 16 October 2017, a slow-moving formation of flaming fragments was seen first over Abu Dhabi and then from Dubai. Initial reports described a fireball, meteor or unidentified object. This is one of the most instructive UAE cases because the observation was genuinely dramatic and widely visible, yet entirely compatible with known space activity. It shows how spectacular appearance alone is a poor measure of anomaly.
Dubai, 2019: military or aviation flares
In November 2019, residents recorded two bright trails that appeared to circle or cross before descending. Witnesses described the display as impressive but unsettling. Green illumination over Downtown Dubai and Karama generated widespread online speculation in January 2026. Videos seemed to show an eerie glow suspended over the city. That does not make every unidentified report meaningless.
