The Reported Sightings and Their Locations

The publicly known accounts originate from statements made by Dot Benet, identified in local reporting as the son of former Andorran Tourism Minister Claude Benet. According to reports summarising an interview on paranormal broadcaster Artur Homs’ channel, Benet described three separate sightings that allegedly occurred between October 2014 and October 2019. Although the three locations differ geographically, they share characteristics common to Andorra’s mountain landscape. Elevated viewpoints, broad horizons and dark night skies provide good opportunities to notice unusual lights. At the same time, steep valleys and complex terrain make judging altitude, distance, speed and size exceptionally difficult, particularly when no fixed reference objects are available.

What Is Missing from the Public Record?

The main obstacle to evaluating these sightings is not contradictory evidence but the absence of evidence that investigators would normally require.

No publicly available record includes:

  • contemporaneous written reports made immediately after the sightings;
  • original photographs or video files with verifiable metadata;
  • radar observations;
  • aviation records linked to the specific events;
  • astronomical reconstruction for the precise dates and times;
  • detailed weather analysis;
  • independent witness statements describing the same objects from different locations.

Without these materials, it is impossible to test whether the observations corresponded to aircraft, satellites, atmospheric effects, drones, astronomical objects or genuinely unidentified phenomena.

Equally significant is the retrospective nature of the testimony.
