This is a classic example of a report that sounds detailed but lacks the measurements needed to discriminate between possibilities. A bright star or planet viewed through turbulent air can appear to pulse or change colour. An aircraft approaching nearly head-on can seem almost stationary before changing direction. A defocused point of light can expand, contract and take on artificial shapes in consumer-camera footage. Without the original recording and metadata, none of these explanations can be tested decisively.

The 2023 episode is the strongest clearly explained recent case in the Bosnian record. It also shows why the number of public “UFO” reports cannot be compared casually across decades. A useful assessment begins with information that can be checked independently. The most valuable report gives the exact date, local time, observation point and compass direction, followed by an unedited description written before the witness watches similar videos or discusses possible explanations.

Original photographs and videos should be retained rather than downloaded from social media, which often strips metadata and recompresses the image. A witness should also record nearby reference objects, the duration of the event and whether the light changed direction relative to stars, buildings or terrain.

Multiple witnesses are most useful when they observe from separated, known positions. Their lines of sight can establish whether an object was nearby or distant and may permit triangulation. Ten people standing together and recording the same unresolved light provide less spatial information than two observers several kilometres apart.

An event becomes genuinely significant when independent evidence converges: visual observations from different locations, simultaneous radar or other sensor data, original high-resolution imagery, and behaviour that cannot be reconciled with known aircraft, satellites or atmospheric effects.
