According to a declassified intelligence report dated 1966, an unidentified flying object was said to have exploded and fallen to Earth sometime between 10 and 15 October 1965. Why wartime aircraft debris is more plausible
Because the recovered material appears to have been an ordinary electrical component, investigators and later researchers have looked for terrestrial explanations rather than exotic ones.
Several possibilities fit the available evidence better than an alien spacecraft:
- Aircraft electrical equipment. Aircraft of the Second World War and early Cold War period contained transformers, motors and other electrical assemblies that used laminated silicon-steel cores.
